  • complete surveys
  • provide feedback or comments
  • participate in competitions

When you, register for email newsletters and distribution lists, or sign up for a discussion forum, you voluntarily provide information needed to complete those transactions. Typically, this includes your email address and name, and for purchases, your postal address. We do not deliberately collect information with the intention of providing it to third parties, except as noted in the “How we use this information” and “Third parties” sections. You may refuse to supply personal identification information but doing so may prevent you from engaging in certain Site-related activities.

When you contact us via email, we may retain your email address as well as the content of your message. When you post a comment on a discussion forum or in response to a blog post, we retain the content of your communication and display the username connected to it.

Similar to other websites, the Site utilises a standard technology called “cookies” and web server logs to collect information automatically about how this site is used. Information gathered through cookies and web server logs may include the date and time of visits, the pages viewed, IP address, time spent at this site, and the websites visited just before and just after our site.

When we send emails to subscribers, we may use web beacons to track who opened the emails and clicked links, in order to measure campaign performance and improve features and services for subscribers and other users.

We may collect and use your personal identification information for the following purposes:

  • To improve customer service. Information you provide helps us respond to your customer service requests and support needs more efficiently.
  • To personalise user experience. We may use information in the aggregate to understand how our visitors, users, and/or students as a group use the services and resources provided on the Site.

Emails that come to you as a result of signing up for newsletters and mailing lists always contain an unsubscribe link and a link to update your contact information, and you may make changes to your subscriptions at any time.

I have assessed that each of these situations is covered by either the ‘Contract’ or ‘Legitimate Interest’ legal basis for data use as described under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). I will keep this under review.

I will not share your information for marketing purposes with Third Parties unless you specifically give me permission to do so. See the section on how I use Data Processors.

I use Data Processors to carry out some tasks in accordance with our instructions. For example, we use an email software provider, an electronic newsletter automation platform, accountancy and banking software. This information is adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary in relation to the purposes for which they are processed. I regularly review these Data Processors to check they comply/conform with the latest data privacy regulations.

You can unsubscribe from my newsletter at any time. The best way to do this is to use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the newsletter. Otherwise email us at privacy@amandabucklow.co.uk

Third parties

We do not sell, trade, or rent your information to third parties, but occasionally use third parties to facilitate our business activities, including, but not limited to, website and product development, site hosting, maintenance, IT services, sending email, processing payments, marketing, analytics, addressing technical problems, and enforcing our Terms of Service and other agreements. In connection with these offerings and business operations, these third parties may have access to your personal information for use in connection with our business activities.

We may also share information in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of our Terms of Service, or as otherwise required by law. We may voluntarily provide any information you provide on the Site to any subpoenas for information, or as otherwise required by law.

If you purchase an online program, you may find advertising or other content that link to the websites and services of our partners, suppliers, advertisers, sponsors, licensors and other third parties. We do not control the content or links that appear on these websites and are not responsible for the practices employed by websites linked to or from our online programs. In addition, these websites or services, including their content and links, may be constantly changing. These websites and services may have their own privacy policies and customer service policies. Browsing and interaction on any other website, including websites which have a link to you, is subject to that website’s own terms and policies.

If you voluntarily make your personal information available on discussion boards, blog comments, or through email, that information may be seen, collected, and used by others besides us. We cannot be responsible for unauthorised third-party use of such information.

Opting out

You may close your user or subscriber account at anytime, and request that we remove all of associated information and data we control, and we will delete it in its entirety. To do so, contact us.

You may opt-out of articles, newsletters, and resources you requested at any time by clicking “unsubscribe” at the foot of any subscriber email or by contacting us directly. If you decide to opt out of receiving emailed resources from us, we will still send you emails notifying you of transactions that you may make on the site, important changes to services you may have purchased, and customer service issues that are required to provide you with services you may have purchased.

Archiving

I have an appropriate retention policy. I will archive certain customer or subscriber records held in my system after periods outlined below. These records are not deleted, but kept in a secure server storage where I will be able to retrieve them, if required.

Length of time records will be available live before being archived:

  • Customer records (inactive) – 5 years

In addition to my regular archiving process, you can have your record archived earlier, if you wish. To do this, email us at privacy@amandabucklow.co.uk

I will continue to review the effectiveness of this policy on at least an annual basis, and more frequently if required, taking into account changes in the law and organisational or security changes.

Access to your information and correction

You have the right to request a copy of the information that I hold about you. If you would like a copy of some or all of your personal information, please email or write to us at the following address: privacy@amandabucklow.co.uk

I may make a small charge for this service.

I want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up to date. You may ask us to correct or remove information you think is inaccurate.

You can set your browser not to accept cookies and the above websites tell you how to remove cookies from your browser. However in a few cases some of my website features may not function as a result.

DISCLOSURE STATEMENT

Honesty and integrity matter to me, so I want to be forthright with you about the ways we earn income via this site. We primarily use this site to sell conflict resolution products, programs, and services.

We may be an affiliate for some products or services that we recommend. Affiliates receive a small percentage from any sale generated as a result of a link. I don’t promote a product or service I do not believe in when recommended and if my view changes about the product or service, I post an update or remove the recommendation. All links to Amazon.co.uk are affiliate links. From time to time authors submit copies of their work for review and merchants provide temporary access to their sites or products for the purposes of review. I disclose these circumstances to readers when they occur. I do not accept sponsored posts or advertising.

I also want to be forthright about the results you can expect from your use of this site. There are no miracles that will instantly transform conflict, relationships, or business. To get meaningful results, you will need to work hard, make a commitment to the changes you want to make and successes you wish to have, and put ideas into regular practice. Any quotes and results mentioned are not typical and you should not infer promises or guarantees from them, nor should you infer any particular timeline. People are different from one another, and what one can achieve, another may not.

Credit: My thanks to my revered friend and colleague Tammy Lenski for her permission to craft these terms on the shoulders of hers.
